Join Assemblymember Tony Thurmond and other education leaders for a roundtable discussion focused on closing the achievement gap experienced by students of color, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, English Language Learners, and students with disabilities.

By bringing together educators, administrators, parents and education policy experts, this roundtable will provide a forum to uplift best practices and provide resources, information, and strategies for all districts statewide.

Assemblymember Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond) invites you to participate in a teacher and school employee housing roundtable. We will discuss California’s program to help school employees, including teachers, purchase a home or keep the home they own. We will also discuss multifamily rental housing for teachers and school employees and learn about the challenges associated with these projects and potential solutions.

National Preparedness Month encourages communities across our nation to prepare for emergencies that pose significant threats. Just recently, natural disasters devastated communities in Florida, Texas, and Mexico. On Thursday, September 21, 2017, please join me as I will be hosting a disaster preparedness townhall for members of the public. Officials from FEMA, Berkeley Seismology, AT&T, PG&E, EBMUD, Kaiser Permanente, and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services will share best practices that will help prepare our community for a disaster.
