Thurmond, Experts Will Discuss How to Protect and Prevent Gun Violence in Schools
WHAT: The Trump administration is considering the use of federal funds to arm teachers in classrooms and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos would strip funding from support programs that helps students in order to purchase weapons that could endanger their lives. Join Assemblymember Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond) and leading gun violence prevention experts and practioners for a discussion on why school gun violence occurs and what can be done to protect students.
Why: It is important to begin addressing school gun violence as a public health crisis, discuss policies and programs for schools to mitigate this escalating issue, and educate communities on what they can do to help.
