(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond) Chair of the Select Committee on Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education hosted a kickoff event, Girls in STEM Week Roundtable Discussion, at the State Capitol. The event brought together Assemblymembers, stakeholders, and students to discuss the current status of STEM education and to explore how to increase access to STEM education for girls and women. “It is my goal to increase access to STEM education for all, while paying close attention to the disparity that exists for girls, women, and people of color,” said Assemblymember Thurmond.
