Protecting the Rights of California’s Immigrants

Thursday, December 8, 2016

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond) joined 56 other State Assemblymembers in supporting House Resolution 4, a measure calling on Congress to protect the rights of all immigrants. HR 4 reads in part, “Having learned the painful lessons from history that racial and ethnic discrimination hurts our residents and undermines our prosperity, California stands unified in rejecting the politics of hatred and exclusion.” As he closed out the floor debate on HR 4, Assemblymember Thurmond said, “We all know that words matter and when you utter them they have force. And they have great force when those words come from the person who stands to be the next leader of the free world.” Here’s more from Assemblymember Thurmond in this Assembly Access video.
