State Assembly Encourages California DREAM Act Applications

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond) joined with his fellow Assembly Democrats to approve House Resolution 20, which encourages students to apply for the California DREAM Act. A recent report from the California Student Aid Commission showed a significant decrease in California Dream Act Applications, down 40% from last year. Speaking on behalf of himself and the Legislative Black Caucus, Assemblymember Thurmond said, “Our DREAMers are living a dream that people of all backgrounds can relate to…the opportunity to get an education.” For more information on the California Dream Act and how students can apply, please visit: http://www.csac.ca.gov/dream_act.asp.
