Thurmond: New State Budget Delivers For District 15 Neighborhoods
(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond), Chair of Budget Sub-Committee #1 on Health and Human Services, says the 2016/17 budget approved by the State Legislature includes money for programs to help the communities of Assembly District 15. Assemblymember Thurmond says the new spending plan includes approximately $4.5 million in public safety funding for cities in the district. These funds support a holistic approach to crime prevention with an emphasis on community policing through programs such as the Richmond Office of Neighborhood Safety and the City of Oakland’s “Grow Our Own” police recruitment program.
