(Sacramento, CA) – Earlier today Assemblymember Timothy S. Grayson (D-Concord) attended the inauguration of Governor Gavin Newsom alongside his fellow legislators, state leaders, and others.
Sacramento, CA--A bill authored by Assemblymembers David Chiu (D-San Francisco) and Timothy S. Grayson (D-Concord) to encourage transit-oriented development (TOD) at certain Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations was signed by Governor Jerry Brown today. Assembly Bill 2923 will require BART to set new standards for transit-oriented development on BART-owned land within a half mile of a BART station. To reduce delays, the bill requires local governments to update their own zoning to meet BART’s affordability and zoning standards.
(SACRAMENTO) – Yesterday, legislation authored by Assemblymember Timothy S. Grayson (D-Concord) to help victims of domestic violence and human trafficking was signed into law by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr.
“As a co-founder of the Central County Family Justice Center, I have been able to witness firsthand how vital the Multidisciplinary Team model is in assisting individuals and families struggling with interpersonal violence,” said Assemblymember Grayson. “We need to be doing all that we can to fight domestic violence and human trafficking, and AB 998 helps us in this fight by allowing counties to leverage resources and work collaboratively to effectively seek justice for victims of some of the most painful and heinous crimes.”
(SACRAMENTO) – Yesterday, legislation authored by Assemblymember Timothy S. Grayson (D-Concord) to provide effective, accessible mental health services for public safety officers was vetoed by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr.
“This decision displays an unfortunate disregard for the well-being of the brave women and men who put their lives on the line to protect Californians and sends a message to all public safety officers that their mental health is not a priority,” said Assemblymember Grayson, who has also served as the Concord Police Department’s Critical Response Chaplain for more than a decade. “It is disappointing that a bill that received the unanimous, bipartisan support of both houses of the legislature did not also have the support of our Governor.”
(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. signed AB 2091, authored by Assemblymember Timothy S. Grayson (D-Concord), into law.
“California is incredibly fortunate to be the home of many world-class firefighters, however, it is incumbent on us in the Legislature to produce legislation that will reduce the need for these brave women and men to put themselves in danger fighting off flames,” said Assemblymember Grayson. “AB 2091 is a proactive measure to ensure that our communities are able to implement best practices to protect families and homes from wildfires before they are started.”
