SACRAMENTO, CA – Anamarie Avila Farias was sworn in today as the Assemblymember for District 15 in the State Capitol. Representing communities in Contra Costa County and the East Bay, Avila Farias brings decades of experience in public service and housing advocacy to her new role.
Avila Farias made history as the first Latina elected to the Martinez City Council and has been a fierce advocate for affordable housing, economic development, and educational equity. Her work includes developing green housing projects, launching workforce training programs, and advancing statewide initiatives to promote homeownership and housing affordability.
A proud granddaughter of Mexican immigrants, Avila Farias earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of San Francisco. She lives in Martinez with her husband and two children and looks forward to bringing her community-focused approach to the State Assembly.
