Assemblymember Grayson Issues Statement on U.C. Regents’ Vote to Increase UC Tuition

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO) Following today’s vote by the University of California Regents to increase tuition on Californian students, Assemblymember Tim Grayson (D - Concord) issued the following statement.

"I am disappointed that at a time when the Governor has proposed eliminating the Middle Class Scholarship, which provided over $39 million in tuition assistance to thousands of Californians last year, the University of California Regents have voted to further burden our students with increased tuition. Rather than increasing tuition we need to focus on preserving the Middle Class Scholarship and decreasing costs within the system while prioritizing admissions for qualified Californian students. Over the coming months I look forward to working with my colleagues, the Governor and U.C. Regents to ensure that U.C. remains both world class and affordable."

Tim Grayson represents the 14th Assembly District that includes the communities of Benicia, Concord, Clayton, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Vallejo, Pittsburg and Walnut Creek. For more information please visit the Assemblymember’s website, www.assembly.ca.gov/a14.
