For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA – Today, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) announced the appointment of Tim Grayson (D-Concord) to Chair of the Banking and Finance Committee.

“Assemblymember Grayson has shown a wide-ranging commitment to California, including efforts to protect businesses and build housing,” Speaker Rendon said. “At the same time, he has shown a care for human needs in his district. This background plus his experience on this committee make him a natural to pick up the reins and guide this economically important panel in uncertain times.”

Upon the announcement of the assignment, Assemblymember Grayson made the following statement:

“I am honored to have been chosen as Chair of the Banking and Finance Committee and want to thank Speaker Rendon for entrusting me with this important responsibility. The COVID-19 pandemic has deeply impacted our state’s economy and millions of California families, and I promise to bring the Committee to the frontlines of the fight to help those who are struggling. I stand ready to roll up my sleeves, champion innovative solutions, and continue the hard work of developing policies that will serve all Californians and help our economy flourish again.”

Besides his appointment as chair of the Banking and Finance Committee, Assemblymember Grayson will serve on the Business and Professions, Insurance, and Revenue and Taxation committees. The Legislature is currently in recess and will reconvene on January 4, 2021.
