(Sacramento) – April has been designated Autism Awareness Month and with that in mind Assemblymember Timothy Grayson (D-Concord) introduced Assembly Concurrent Resolution 60 to the State Assembly. ACR 60 encourages California families to attend a Sensory Friendly Screening during the month of April. “Sensory Friendly Screenings are a special opportunity for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families to enjoy their favorite films,” Assemblymember Grayson explained. “Participating theaters designate show times during which special accommodations are made for community members with autism. These include leaving the theater lights up, turning the sound down, and suspending the usual rules about maintaining silence.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
